River side mill redevelopment takes shape

The first houses at a development on the edge of Burley-in-Wharfedale’s Greenholme Mills complex have now been completed.

Known as Greenholme Mews, the development comprises 19 four-bedroom houses, being built by Leeds-based Chartford Homes.

The homes are being marketed by the new homes division of estate agent, Dacre, Son & Hartley.

Greenholme Mills operated as a textile mill from 1790 until the 1960s, and its location next to the River Wharfe made it one of the largest water-powered mills in England when it was built.

However, in recent decades it had fallen into a state of disrepair and its historic mill buildings are now also being transformed into apartments, as part of the site’s regeneration programme.

Paul Wilson, director at Dacre, Son & Hartley, said: “Greenholme Mews offers a collection of stylish, contemporary and extremely spacious homes that have been designed with modern living requirements in mind.

“This part of the village is quickly becoming one of its most sought-after residential areas, with the added benefit of being close to the River Wharfe.

“As a result, several homes are already sold at Greenholme Mews, and the remaining properties are currently attracting plenty of interest from buyers.”
