Specialist developer looks to grow portfolio with 66-bed care home

Torsion Care is proposing to build a 66-bedroom care home, off Pool Road, in Otley.
The planned property, meant for a site next to Otley Garden Centre, would include dining lounges, recreation space and landscaping. The facility would be operated by Torsion Care’s sister company, Torwood Care.
It is intended to meet a growing need for specialised high quality care provision.
The care home would support a range of full and part time roles, providing jobs for local people during both the construction and operation of the home.
Torsion Care is a Yorkshire-based regional developer, specialising in building, and operating residential care homes and retirement living apartments.
With sites already operational in Derby, Sleaford, and Humberston, Otley would be the next in its expanding portfolio.
A public drop-in exhibition session for people interested in the Otley proposals is taking place on Thursday 17 August between 4pm and 7pm at Otley Town Football Club, Pool Road, LS21 1DY.
Ian Ward, development director at Torsion Care, said: “This public consultation is an opportunity for the community to learn more and comment on our exciting plans for a new, modern and sustainable care home in Otley.
“We know there is a growing need for first-class, modern care home provision to meet current and future needs.
“Our proposal in Otley would repurpose this attractive site and help to meet care needs within a green landscaped setting to promote the welfare and wellbeing of users.”
Following the public consultation, a planning application will be submitted to Leeds City Council.
