Jobs lost as established building services group falls into administration

Bradford-based building services group, H Mitton Ltd, is now in administration with 160 workers reportedly made redundant.

The group, which had been trading since 2000 and employed more than 300 people according to latest accounts for the year ended 27 January 2022, filed a notice to appoint administrators last month. Its managers had been in talks to explore a potential sale of the group.

Administrators Bob Maxwell and Julian Pitts from Begbies Traynor’ Leeds Office are now running the business.

Its failure follows the loss of main customer Morrisons supermarket earlier this year.

Companies within the group – which is headquartered in Cleckheaton Road, Low Moor, include Mitton Mechanical Services, Mitton Electrical Services and Mitton Aftercare.
