Skipton-based health supplement business, Principle Healthcare, has reported an annual turnover of £20m as it marks 21 years of trading in both UK and international markets.

The business, which supplies vitamins, minerals and nutrition supplements, was established in September 2002 by Mike Davies and has since evolved from being a small family concern.

It is now part of Addvance Consumer Healthcare, a European nutritional supplier operating across multiple categories and countries.

Earlier this year the firm revealed the appointment of its former sales director, John Sutcliffe, as managing director.

Sutcliffe, whose previous roles include head of sales at Yorkshire health supplement manufacturer, BetterYou Ltd, will take over from Principle’s current MD, Andrew Davies, at the end of this year.

Commenting on the company’s latest financial results, Sutcliffe attributed Principle’s success to “a highly effective sales operation, sustainable supplier and customer relationships and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast growing sector.”

The firm’s Vitawell brand supplements are available nationally through supermarket chains Tesco, Asda and Morrisons, High Street retailer Primark and discounter and bargain stores, Aldi and Home Bargains. They are also available through Amazon and other online platforms.

In 2006, the company launched Principle Healthcare International to distribute its Vitawell range around the globe.
