Developer given a green light for 138 homes

Bradford councillors have voted to approve development of 138 new homes in Silsden, near Keighley.

Members of the council’s planning committee has approved Persimmon’s application, which will also provide 28 homes to be transferred to a housing association or sold at a discount to first-time buyers.

Persimmon has also committed to a local homes guarantee so employees of the nearby Airedale General Hospital and people living within a five-mile radius will have first refusal on properties for the first four weeks.

The development will include three acres of public open space with hedgerows and landscape corridors retained, as well as retention of a public of right of way as a green corridor.

£100,000 will be provided by the developer for a footbridge over the A629 towards Steeton & Silsden Railway Station.

James Parkin, land director at Persimmon West Yorkshire, said: ‘We’re pleased committee members have voted to reaffirm the council’s recommendation for approval.

“This development will provide 138 much needed high quality new homes in Bradford district for local homebuyers.

“The development will provide a range of high-quality and energy efficient homes suitable for first-time buyers, families and downsizers alike at prices people can afford.

“21 homes will be transferred to a housing association with another seven to be made available as First Homes to first-time buyers with a discount of at least 30%.

“Significant contributions will be made to improve to local infrastructure as agreed with Bradford Council who we look forward to working with to bring this development to fruition.”
