Security firm becomes energy giant’s national partner

Leeds-headquartered multi-service provider Servo Group has signed a new contract to become the nationwide security services provider for one of the largest renewable energy companies, worldwide.

Under the new contract, Servo has become Ørsted’s national partner as it continually reviews its security measures as part of the UK’s energy sector. The firm has been providing a range of security services at Ørsted Energy sites around the UK for over the past twelve months.

The multi-service provider, which has offices in Leeds, London, Birmingham, Darlington and Manchester employs a multitude of SIA-licensed guards on Ørsted’s sites, who provide a vigilant, visible presence, controlling access to the sites and patrolling to maintain safety and identify any security threats.

Ørsted is the global leader in renewable and sustainable energy, constructing and operating assets, across the Globe, including, but not limited to, Denmark, the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, APAC and the US, including Hornsea 2, which is currently the world’s largest operational single wind farm. Its Hornsea 3 & 4 offshore wind farms are also in development, which together could generate more than 5GW of clean electricity.

Brendon Largue, Ørsted’s head of regional security for Europe said, As a renewable energy company, with a globally diverse portfolio, we are very much in the public eye. Thus, the need for professional security services is essential, for both the security of our staff and assets, but also in relation to various Government compliance issues. Servo work as part of the bigger to team to help us fulfil those needs and we’re delighted to have renewed our partnership for a further eighteen months.”

Servo, which specialises in security services, including static guarding, CCTV, rail labour, and cleaning has enjoyed incredibly fast growth since its inception, and currently employs more than 1500 operatives around the UK. Along with Ørsted, the firm services some major contracts across the rail, energy retail and construction sectors.

Laura Bacon, bid manager for Servo, said: “We are delighted to be servicing this contract for Ørsted– their global visibility, make them a very high-profile client for us, and it’s been great to be able to create local employment opportunities in the North-East & North West. Many of Ørsted’s values align with our own, especially their commitment to sustainability, which also make them an excellent addition to our client portfolio.”

Servo’s contract with Ørsted has and will continue to, create direct employment opportunities throughout the UK & Northern Ireland, where guards have already been, or are likely to be, specifically recruited to work at each site. The East Coast Hub at Grimsby is the world’s largest operations and maintenance facility, boasting state of the art offices, a visitors’ centre, and direct docks access, increasing the need for security visibility, and it often attracts high-profile dignitaries including a recent visit from Kier Starmer, to discuss the region’s burgeoning contribution to the renewable energy industry.

The contract renewal is one of many recent wins that are helping to contribute to Servo’s fast growth, which includes opening three new offices and doubling its turnover in the past 12 months.
