Footwear retailer on the march towards growth with plans to create 130 jobs

York-headquartered footwear retailer, Pavers, has outlined major expansion plans for its head office.
The business says its interim office space and proposed expansion for its existing Distribution and Logistics Centre is expected to bring an additional 130 skilled jobs to the city.
Earlier this year, Pavers resubmitted two planning applications to City of York Council to expand its Distribution & Logistics Centre and office accommodation at Catherine House, Northminster Business Park.
These plans were initially submitted last year, but were put on hold after the Distribution and Logistics Centre application was refused by the council’s planning committee in November 2022.
Pavers says its headquarters office space continues to operate at capacity, with the company currently forced to rely on temporary accommodation at the site.
A spokesman for the firm explained: “Due to the uncertainty on when, or if, its plans could be delivered and in the context of the urgent need for suitable office accommodation, Pavers has decided to withdraw its application related to the office expansion at the front of Catherine House.
“Instead, the company is exploring alternative office accommodation in York that complement the immediate needs of the business.
“This approach allows Pavers to address its immediate and short-term future needs for increased office space, as well as providing the scope and flexibility to review its long-term office requirements once an outcome has been determined on the Distribution and Logistics application.”
Established over 50 years ago, Pavers is a family owned-and-run company which now has over 185 stores nationwide.
The firm says its proposals for the Distribution and Logistics Centre are expected to be heard by City of York Council “in the coming months.”
