Administration looms for established windows and doors manufacturer

A Barnsley-based manufacturer of uPVC windows and doors has filed a Notice of Intention to appoint an administrator.

Euramax Solutions Ltd, was founded in 1950 when it was originally called Ellbee. In 1993 it was acquired by OmniMax USA and rebranded as Euramax.

It was brought back under the control of a UK-based parent company, Modular Group Investments, (MGI) in 2021.

The firm operates from a 205,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Hoyland and provides its products to the offsite building construction, modular building, builder merchant, home renovation, holiday home and leisure markets.

Euramax employed an average of 213 staff in 2022, up from 172 staff in 2021, according to its report for the year to 30 June 2022.

Over the same period, the business reported turnover of £26.5m (2021: £26.5m) and pre-tax profits of £129,000 (2021: £579,000).

Euramax was one of many businesses left out of pocket when Knaresborough-based modular housebuilder Ilke Homes entered liquidation in 2023. An administrators’ report showed Euramax had been owed £619,000 by Ilke Homes.
