Yorkshire construction business relocating to Manchester in expansion move

Yorkshire construction firm, Big Red Construction, is relocating its headquarters from Huddersfield to Manchester.

It said it reflects an evolution of its business following significant investment into the company and a raft of senior hires.

BR2.0 will provide end-to-end property solutions, across development; construction; and asset maintenance, under the ethos of ‘Develop. Deliver. Maintain.’.

The company, which was founded in Huddersfield in 2016, will move its headquarters to Ducie Street in Manchester, a city the company has seen prolific activity in over recent years.

BR2.0’s development arm, Xpercity, will have immediate access to a significant war chest, which is able to fund its development pipeline.

Big Red Construction said it will capitalise on its extensive refurbishment and new-build expertise across major sites in the north, to deliver a quality product.

The company’s maintenance arm, Inspired, will act as an asset maintenance and project management part of the business. Together, these three strands of the business bring together three entities, Xpercity, Big Red, and Inspired: Develop, Deliver and Maintain.

Mike Lomas, founder and chief executive of the group, said: “The way we’ve structured BR2.0 allows us to retain control of a project in its entirety, meaning we have better oversight around location, timings and quality of build.

“Utilising the extensive expertise of our teams we can create inspiring developments with the long term in mind, helping to regenerate cities, address housing needs and release capital for funders.”

As a part of its significant expansion drive, the company is seeking to deliver 750 residential units per year by 2030, rapidly increasing headcount over that time.

In order to realise its ambition, the company, through its Xpercity arm, has already secured in excess of 175-unit development plots across Manchester and is actively looking for new development opportunities to add to its burgeoning portfolio.

The move to Manchester will involve a headcount of around 32 initially being based out of the new offices, which cover around 4,500 sq ft. The company is seeking further strategic development opportunities across the North and Midlands.
