Homeless charity announces date for annual sleep out event

Simon on the Streets

Yorkshire-based homeless charity Simon On The Streets has announced that its annual Simon’s Big Sleep Out event will be taking place on October 10 this year to mark World Homeless Day.

‘Simon’s Big Sleep Out’ is the charity’s flagship event, inviting members of the public to spend a night sleeping on the streets of Leeds. The event aims to raise awareness about the rising rate of homelessness in the Yorkshire region.

This year’s event will once again take place at the Leeds Civic Hall for the third year running. The event is also set to host guest speakers to touch on this topic, with an offering of food and entertainment available too.

With more than 100 spaces available, participation will cost £30, helping to contribute to the cost of organising the event and its fundraising efforts.

In 2023, Simon On The Streets welcomed 80 participants to take part in ‘Simon’s Big Sleep Out’, which raised a record breaking £30,000.

CEO Natalie Moran said: “We’re incredibly excited that for the first time ‘Simon’s Big Sleep Out’ will take place on World Homeless Day. This is incredibly poignant for us, particularly in the year that the charity celebrates its 25th Anniversary.”
