Established village nursing home changes hands
Oaklands Nursing Home, in the village of Kirk Hammerton, North Yorkshire, has been sold for an undisclosed sum.
The long-established home is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide care for up to 44 people. It has been owned by Maria Mallaband Care Group (MMCG).
Following a confidential sales process with Jonathan Wickens at specialist business property adviser Christie & Co, the home has been purchased by Jaimon Lukose, director of Oak Care Home Services and also a director of Tancred Hall Care Services which operates Peacock Manor Nursing Home in nearby Whixley.
Paul Walsh, chief operating officer of MMCG, said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the team at Oaklands but now feel the time is right to hand over to a local operator who can use all their local connection to work with the team and further enhance the services provided.”
Lukose said: “Oaklands Nursing Home has been acquired by Oak Care Home Services Ltd, a company recognised for its commitment to high-quality, person-centred care.”
A spokesman for Oaklands added: “We are are eager to deliver exceptional dementia care for the residents of Kirk Hammerton and North Yorkshire.
“The new ownership intends to initiate a refurbishment phase. This effort is expected to yield substantial advantages for the local community by offering superior care to the elderly.”
Wickens, director – care at Christie & Co, said: “There was multiple interest in this quality asset, and we are pleased to see the home transfer to an operator who already has experience in the local market and will be able to bring synergies from his existing business.
“It was great to work with both Oak Care Home Services and MMCG who both understood the complexities of a care home transfer to ensure a smooth transition to new ownership.”
