People: Newett Homes; BHP; and more

Yorkshire housebuilder, Newett Homes, has made three senior appointments, strengthening its senior leadership team as the firm continues to build on its 2025/26 landbank for future development.

Jennifer Tupman has been appointed chief financial officer, bringing more than 17 years of experience in financial operations and strategic planning within the housing industry.

She joins from her previous role as finance director at Taylor Wimpey, with a focus on driving financial performance, improving operational efficiency, and supporting sustainable growth across residential developments.

The company has also appointed Kenny Mawson as technical director.

With more than 20 years’ experience in the industry including holding technical positions at Persimmon Homes, Redrow Homes and Strata Homes, Mawson will head the technical department, focusing on engineering and architectural aspects of the business from land acquisition, through to site completions and final adoptions.

Completing the Senior Leadership Team new appointments is Tony Johnson, who is joining as commercial director.

His first 12 months in the role will see him focus on developing a high-performing commercial team, refining internal processes, and ensuring consistent delivery across sites.

He brings decades of experience to the team including roles as commercial director at Gleeson Homes and Avant Homes.

The newly structured Senior Leadership Team is led by Will Newett, founder and CEO.

He said: “This senior management refresh has been instrumental to our long-term strategy, bringing together 50+ years of collective experience in the housing industry.

“We have an exciting 12 months ahead at Newett Homes with the launch of three new developments in the next three months and much more to come.

“The creation of an experienced Senior Leadership Team was imperative in order to achieve our ambitious growth targets, while ensuring we deliver on the exceptional quality and customer service that we are known for.”

Backed by the Business Growth Fund since 2023, Newett Homes has secured eight sites in Yorkshire and aims to deliver 500 homes per annum.

Accountancy firm, BHP, has appointed Kyle Newton as its first-ever head of employment taxes partner, as part of a strategic expansion of its services.

With 17-years experience, working for firms including Deloitte, PWC and BDO, Newton has supported employers across both the private and public sectors with managing the increasing cost and challenges with rewarding people via payroll, expenses or non-cash benefits.

This work supports businesses with both the recruitment and retention of staff.

He has also supported businesses with increasing benefit offerings, reshaping them in a tax efficient manner; or designing and implementing policy and control frameworks to aid compliance.

In his new role, he will work with BHP’s wider tax team to provide comprehensive support across all tax areas, delivering specialist advice aligned with the latest HMRC guidance for employee tax.

Newton said: “I am excited to be joining BHP and supporting clients at a time when HMRC enforcements are increasing and with employer’s national insurance increasing in April to 15%.

“Both create further challenges with businesses managing the trade-off between cost impact, recruitment/retention of key talent and productivity.

“I’m passionate about delivering tailored advice and practical solutions based on the latest HMRC guidance, tax legislation and case law, helping businesses to navigate challenges and continue to thrive.

“My aim is to reduce business cost and/or reduce administrative time.”

Hamish Morrison, Joint CEO, added: “We are committed to providing our clients with the highest level of expertise, and providing clear advice, which is especially important with significant changes on the horizon such as those around national insurance.

“Expanding our tax services with Kyle’s appointment strengthens our ability to support businesses, and his wealth of experience will be invaluable to our clients as they look to not only navigate the changing landscape but grow and thrive.”
