Horbury Group in contract win

THE Horbury Group has won two contracts worth more than £1.5m as part of plans to develop one of Sheffield's most historic locations.

The Rotherham-based Group will carry out work on the first phase of of mixed-use development, Kelham Riverside in the city's Kelham Island district.

The scheme will offer 146 one and two bedroom contemporary apartments with bar and restaurant facilities.

Main developers, Mansell Construction Services, has awarded Horbury Building Systems a £900,000 contract for drywall and partitions and MWS Joinery a £700,000 deal to provide doors, frames and skirting boards.

David Priestley, business development manager, at the Horbury Group, said: “This project is set to rejuvenate a once neglected area of inner-city Sheffield.

The scheme is in the city's industrial heartland and the design and architecture incorporate many original features that truly reflect the sites industrial past. It is an honour for MWS and Horbury Building Systems to be involved in such a prestigious development.”

The Group will be on site until July 2008.
