Croft Electrical Engineering lands major London contract

CROFT Electrical Engineering, part of Rotherham-based construction firm Horbury Group, is to supply a global information management company with  specialist electrical, fire and security systems.

The project will see Croft install an advanced fire detection system to protect the millions of files, tapes and discs which will be stored in Crown Records Management’s Enfield facility.

The Vesda system is a high-tech fire aspiration service with a manual interface. The system actively draws air from the protected area, filtering it for smoke particles and is quoted to be 200 times more sensitive than standard smoke detectors to give the earliest possible warning of a fire.

Croft will install automated surface mounted lighting which forms part of a remote building management system, allowing operators to constantly supervise the building’s operations.

Generator backup will be provided to all essential circuits allowing for an uninterrupted power supply to all the facility’s servers.

Croft will also provide a Biometric Access Security System, which requires a scan of the user’s fingerprint for entry to the building.

David Cocker, director of Croft Electrical Engineering, said: “We have a wealth of experience in these kinds of installations and specialise in providing a unique service in a niche market.

“There are a total of five phases to this project and Croft are currently undertaking phase two but with the option to service other properties within the company’s portfolio as required.”

Joining the Horbury Group of companies in 2008, Croft Electrical Engineering specialises in planned maintenance, facilities management, fire alarm systems, security systems, data systems, power and lighting and access control.

Horbury Group, which formed in Sheffield in 1993 as Horbury Building Systems, has gone from strength-to-strength over recent years, increasing its turnover from £1.4m in its first year to £70m.

The companies which make up the group are Horbury Building Systems, Horbury Estates, MWS Joinery, Titan Ceilings, Environ Safety Management, Drytech, Millstone Building, Magna Plant and Tool Hire, Croft Electrical Engineering and Elevation Recruitment.
