Inditherm posts £1m loss but sees medical orders rise

HEATING business Inditherm fell to a £1m loss last year after a “difficult year” but today said that it is optimistic of positive trends in orders continuing.
The Rotherham-based business, which supplies products ranging from under-soil heating systems for football pitches to heated mattresses for premature babies, saw a pre-tax loss of £1.121m in the 12 months to December 31 compared to a loss of £324,000 the year before.
Revenue was down to £1.152m from £1.983m while the group ended the year with a cash balance of £2.09m.
However chairman Mark Abrahams said that the group saw overall medical orders increase by 10% last year.
He said: “As was the case for many businesses, 2009 was undoubtedly a difficult year for Inditherm, however the progress we have made in recent months is more encouraging.
“While broadly our customers have been impacted by the economic situation, we were pleased to see growth in some areas of the business, notably in Medical orders through our overseas distributors and in the margins for the Industrial business.
“We have focussed our resources on these areas and are optimistic that the positive trends we are seeing in enquires and orders will continue into 2010.”
