Global expansion for North Yorkshire chemicals firm

BELZONA, the Harrogate-based chemicals firm, has opened two new centres as part of its gobal growth strategy.

The firm, which designs and manufacturers polymer repair composites and industrial protective coatings, has set up a new regional sales and service centre in Grangemouth, Scotland, which will serve as a base to Belzona’s UK sales force and contracting division Technosol.

The second is a new regional office and global training centre in Laem Chabang in Thailand.

The new facility offers a state of the art training area, which is purpose built to demonstrate how Belzona products would be applied in real industrial situations giving a more realistic ‘hands-on’ experience.

Ron Campbell, senior vice president of Belzona, said that the firm was rapidly expanding its “corporate global footprint, which is in line with our vision to significantly grow our business”.

“Belzona sells through a global network of more than160 exclusive distributors operating in 125 countries, 42 of these distributors are located within the Asia and Middle East Region,” he added.

Belzona was originally founded in 1952 in Elland, Leeds by Jorgen Svendsen.

The family owned firm moved to Harrogate in the 1990s where it opened its head quarters.

Today, the firm operates from five corporate offices incuding the US, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Canada.

Its UK business, which employs around 170 staff, operates in Grangemouth, Wrexham and Teesside.
