DWF enjoys revenue growth

LAW firm DWF has revealed a 14% hike in revenue to £45m for the six months to the end of October.

The firm said its insurance practice had driven the strong performance with a 33% hike in fee income over the period.

Despite the general malaise in the property sector, DWF said real estate fee income grew by 16%, followed by the financial services sector, which posted an increase in income of 11%.

The firm, which has an office in Leeds as well as those in Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Birmingham, Newcastle and London, said it had reduced its debt from 13% of turnover to 10% compared with this time last year.

It said that having recruited 110 people across its offices over the last six months, it expects to add another 100 people in the second half. DWF now employs more than 1,400 people across the country.

Managing partner Andrew Leaitherland said: “It’s undoubtedly the people at DWF that are the reason behind our continuing success. We invest heavily in our lawyers and business support teams, striving to attract the best talent to the firm.

“In the last six months, we have recruited some outstanding legal talent such as London-based litigation expert Hilary Ross as our head of retail and we welcomed asset finance expert Joanne Davis and team to our financial services group.

“I strongly believe that our sector-specialist approach enables us to align ourselves with our clients’ needs and helps us understand the pressures they face.

“We continue to maintain and grow our national presence; in the last half year we opened our seventh office – expanding our operations into Birmingham.”

Leaitherland said the firm is on a “solid platform to meet its ambitious long-term growth plans.”
