Educational business creates jobs

A YORKSHIRE company which provides websites for the education sector is relocating to the site of a former job centre in a move which will create up to 50 jobs.
WebAnywhere is moving into a recently renovated 10,000 sq ft office within Keighley’s Aire Valley Business Centre in West Yorkshire.
The office was officially opened by Yorkshire entrepreneur Thomas Black – a prominent member of the multi-million pound global manufacturer Peter Black Group, which employed 800 people in Keighley.
WebAnywhere has sold its School Jotter concept to 15% of the UK’s primary schools.
The company provides cutting edge technology alongside comprehensive training to an education-based client base of more than 2,000.
WebAnywhere provides a range of products and services for the educational sector including websites, virtual tours, virtual learning environments and online pupil registration systems.
It recently set up a dedicated US office and has staff targeting international markets in France, Germany, Spain and South Africa.
Sean Gilligan, who founded WebAnywhere in 2003 from a makeshift office in his parents’ bedroom, said: “The purpose of this business is to create jobs for young people – to give them a chance in these hard economic times. This move will allow us to do that, and we are all absolutely delighted about it.
“Thomas built a hugely successful global business worth £300m from a base in Keighley. We are hungry for success like that and will do our utmost to replicate the achievements the Peter Black Group enjoyed.”
