Bio-D in allergy free acquisition

ETHICAL, hypo-allergenic and environmentally friendly cleaning products firm Bio-D has been bought from its founder Mike Barwell.

The deal, for an unspecified sum, sees Bio-D’s operations director Lloyd Atkin and Beverley-based businesswomen Sara Holtby take over the business.

Mrs Holtby brings with her extensive commercial experience gained with fellow Hull companies Aunt Bessies and William Jackson Bakery.

She said: “Bio-D is a great business with sound values and a good business model and I am looking forward to the challenge of raising public awareness of these great products.

“One area that we will be looking to highlight is the benefits for allergy sufferers as all of our products are allergy tested by an independent expert and are one of only a few businesses whose products are fragrance free.”

Mr Atkin said that Bio-D worked closely with The Breakspear Medical Group – one of the UK’s leading specialists in the treatment of allergy and environmental illness – to develop products than can be recommended to patients.

Bio D products contain no petrochemicals, enzymes or animal by-products, packaging is recyclable and manufactured to contain effective levels of recycled material and, wherever possible, raw materials are from sustainable sources.

Neither products nor raw materials have been tested on animals. The range includes washing up liquid, laundry liquid, laundry powder, fabric conditioner, dishwasher powder and rinse aid, multipurpose cleaner, bathroom cleaner, glass and window cleaner, toilet cleaner and disinfectant.
