RIPLEY Asset Management, based in Harrogate, has appointed Alex Fell as a surveyor in its agency and management team.

Mr Fell studied ecological science at Edinburgh University and subsequently graduated from

Heriot-Watt University with a masters in Real Estate Management.

The 25-year-old said: “The chance to join Ripley’s team was too good to miss. These are exciting times for the property development and investment market, as we slowly emerge from recession, and this is the perfect place to start my career in property and capitalise on the opportunities which arise.”

THE Sheffield office of commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has been appointed by urban renewal and regeneration specialist Compendium Living, to acquire more than 30 acres of brownfield land for a major development in Derby.

Known as Castleward, the residential-led £100m scheme will provide more than 800 new homes.
 
LSH project director Matthew Barnsdale said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to this landmark project, which will herald a new era for Derby city centre.”

LEEDS city living specialist Morgans has been appointed by Rushbond Group to let and manage its Crispin Lofts development.
 
The grade two-listed building, located in the city’s Northern Quarter on the corner of North Street and New York Road, is being converted into 82 apartments complete with a residents gym and a retail unit.  Work is expected to complete next summer.
 
Jonathan Morgan, managing director of Morgans, said: “Crispin Lofts is probably the only residential development that will complete in Leeds city centre in the next couple of years, so we’re naturally delighted to be appointed as letting agents. 

“We already manage Leeds city centre’s largest quality rentals portfolio and this latest win will underpin our position at the forefront of the city rentals market.”
 
The building was originally called Heaton House when it was built in 1915 for Henry Heaton’s Clothing Company before it became home to HW Poole & Sons Boot and Shoe Manufacturers in 1979.

NORSEMAN Estates, represented by Savills, has let units 12 and 17 College Walk in Rotherham to TJ Morris and Ladbrokes Racing respectively.

TJ Morris, trading as Home Bargains, has taken a store totalling 150,000 sq ft and will pay £130,000 per year. The retailer has agreed a new 15-year lease.

Ladbrokes Racing has agreed a new 10-year lease on a unit totalling 1,154 sq ft and will pay £55,000.

Steve Henderson, associate director at Savills in Leeds, said: “Following these lettings College Walk is now 100% let and this is the story for much of Rotherham with only three units currently available on the retail core of Effingham Street, Howard Street, College Street, Fredrick Street and Bridgegate. This time last year there were over 11 shops available on these streets.”
