Latest appointments: Law firm expands with key hires; Top society roles for PwC pair; and more

LAW firm Hartley & Worstenholme, which has offices in Castleford and Pontefract, has made four new appointments as part of its ambitious growth plans.

Claire Garside has joined the family department with 13 years’ experience working in legal services.

Ms Garside became a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX) in 2006 and specialises in all aspects of matrimonial and family law, including care proceedings.

Josephine Cuttill has been hired as a legal executive in the wills and probate team. Ms Cuttill has more than 15 years experience specialising in all aspects of private client work and deals with residential property transactions linked to private client matters.

The firm’s litigation department has welcomed Oliver Cashman to the team. 

He specialises in employment law, commercial and civil litigation, dealing with a range of disputes.

Amy McIntosh has been recruited to the firm’s estate agency team. Ms McIntosh is keen to promote the benefits of having an estate agency and solicitor under one roof.

LEEDS accountants Gareth Baigent and Hayley Crosby have been appointed president and chairwoman of the Leeds Charted Accountants Students’ Society.

Mr Baigent, a manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Leeds, is taking over the role as president following a year as vice president in 2008/9 and a position as chairman during 2005/6. He succeeds Jen Grafham of Kaplan Financial.

Hayley Crosby is a senior associate at PwC and will be taking over as chairwoman, having been vice chairwoman for the previous year. She takes over from Dan Kelsall of Zolfo Cooper.

The LCASS is the society which represents individuals training to be chartered accountants in the Leeds area.

The society organise a series of events throughout the year, targeted at enhancing students’ personal development and improving their networking skills within the accountancy community.

New partners at RollittsYORK and Hull-based law firm Rollits has appointed three new partners following its move become a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) earlier this month.

Donna Ingleby, who joined the firm two years ago, becomes a partner in the firm’s employment group as a specialist in contentious and non-contentious employment issues, including tribunal preparation and advocacy.

She will continue to work alongside Neil Maidment in the group, which has one of the largest specialist employment teams in the region.

Tom Morrison, who has been with the firm since joining as a trainee solicitor in 1999, is now a partner in Rollits’ commercial group.

Mr Morrison specialises in advising on contractual matters, intellectual property, data protection, freedom of information, information technology and e-commerce.

Caroline Hardcastle, who trained with Kennedys Solicitors in London, will become partner within Rollits’ dispute resolution department dealing with a range of commercial disputes.

Ms Hardcastle specialises in construction and engineering disputes where she has acted on behalf of employers, developers and contractors in adjudications and court proceedings.
