HOWARD Kew, the former chief executive of Financial Leeds, has become finance director of The Medical Protection Society (MPS).
Mr Kew succeeds Simon Kayll who will become chief executive of the mutual organisation, which has a major operation in Leeds.
MPS offers discretionary indemnity to more than 270,000 members worldwide related to the legal, ethical and related problems that arise from their professional practice.
Mr Kew will start at MPS next month and will lead the not-for-profit organisation’s finance and membership services function.
He will also take responsibility for more than £1.7bn of funds that MPS holds to protect its members’ interests.
He brings with him more than 20 years experience in financial services, including a range of senior management positions at Aviva UK Life.
Mr Kayll said: “We are very pleased to have secured Howard as a member of MPS’s executive team and I am certain he will contribute to MPS’s financial strength.
“Howard’s range of experience includes the mutual sector, one of the UK’s leading insurance companies and a highly influential role at Financial Leeds. This experience puts Howard in a strong position to take up the position of Finance Director and I look forward to welcoming him next month.”
Mr Kew said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining MPS at an exciting time for the organisation. MPS has extensive expertise and manages a substantial international investment portfolio.
“It is the leading player in its field and my job is to join a winning team and ensure continued success for the organisation.”
