Apartments by Yorkshire architects revealed

A HOUSING scheme designed by a Yorkshire architecture firm which aims to help first time buyers get onto the property ladder has been unveiled.
DKS, based in Stokesley, North Amercia, has designed a range of studios and apartments for development company Kube², which is building the scheme in Thornaby, Teesside.
The units will be priced from less than £70,000.
Mark Barlow, of DKS Architects, said: “The North is fast becoming a showcase for modern architecture and we see no reason that the Tees Valley should be left behind.
“With first time buyers finding it increasingly difficult to get onto the property ladder, we believe this Kube² development in Thornaby will set a new trend and provide a blueprint for other areas of the UK to follow.”
The designs include 22 studio apartments and 12 one-bedroom apartments.
Katrina Rosser, managing director at Kube², said: “We have invested a great deal of time and effort in coming up with a design that not only makes the best use of space, but also appeals to young professionals and key workers such as teachers and nurses.
“The new homes would make a hugely positive contribution to the local community and we are looking forward to receiving feedback on the plans from nearby residents.”
Leaflets illustrating and explaining the plans have been distributed in the area inviting residents' comments which will be reviewed before being submitted to Stockton Council. If approved, work could start later this summer and be complete early next year.
