Building gets £5m revamp

A BUILDING has undergone a £5m refurbishment programme, including work on its art deco facade, to offer 35,000 sq ft of office accommodation.

Fountain House in Leeds city centre, which dates back to the 1930s, is being marketed by agents Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) and CBRE. Both groups said a number of deals are nearing completion at the site.

Burford Park Estates has undertaken the £5m refurbishment which has included retaining and enhancing the period art deco façade whilst the interiors have been refurbished.

Robin Beagley, of LSH's Leeds office, said: “In terms of its location, aesthetic appeal and the quality of offices on offer, Fountain House is one of Leeds's unique property gems.

“The building will fill a gap in the Leeds office market and by providing accommodation over nine floors with office space ranges from 1,500 to 5,000 sq ft it means smaller companies and larger corporates can both occupy space comparable with the very best in the city.”

Charlie Cudworth, of property developer Burford Park Estates, said: “The re-development of the building has allowed us to combine the stunning art deco facades with sleek contemporary office interiors that have been refurbished to the highest modern specifications.

“One of the key features of the building now is its glass cube penthouse which provides panoramic views across the city skyline. This was a major turning point in the refurbishment as the majority of the work had been carried out 'behind the scenes', but the addition of this stunning floor now sets the tone for the true architectural and design qualities inside the building.”
