Latest appointments: Top role for property expert; New management for Highlander; and more

SHEFFIELD’S first Asian chartered surveyor, who rose to become a chief officer with Sheffield City Council, has taken on a top role in the private sector with one of the area’s leading property specialists.
Mohammed Mahroof, who was head of corporate property for the City Council, has joined Mark Jenkinson’s in Sheffield as a full-time consultant.
Mr Mahroof gained a degree in Urban Land Economics at Sheffield Polytechnic, now Sheffield Hallam University, in 1988. He qualified as a chartered surveyor in 1990.
He is a guest lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University for the MSc property appraisal and management course and also an assessor for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

SHEFFIELD-based Highlander IT & Telecoms has made four major appointments to key areas of the business, including a new senior management team.
The company, which now employs 45 staff and has an annual turnover of £9m, has appointed Steve Brown as managing director, with Robert Massie taking up the new post of chief executive.
Promotions to the board of directors have also been made, with Daniel Bumby taking over as business development director, Chris Muscroft as commercial director and John Akings as technical director.
They join Karrie Massie and Richard Field on the current board.
Mr Brown said: “We have strong foundations from our 15 years as an IT and telecoms company, and now, with the purpose built offices on Shepcote Lane and an established track record, we can push forward and offer new technologies to our clients that will assist in increasing return on investment and meeting their business plans.”
Alan Lyons, an investor development manager at Creativesheffield, helped Highlander to secure grants, worked on their supply chains, and helped to find property for the firm.

A NEW national head of sales for integrated financial solutions has been appointed by Yorkshire Bank.
Graham Watson will lead a 40-strong team supporting Yorkshire Bank and Clydesdale Bank’s 70 financial solutions centres across the UK providing the latest electronic payment capabilities to businesses.
Mr Watson will continue to work out of Yorkshire Bank’s Hull-based East Yorkshire Financial Solutions Centre (FSC), where he has been managing partner for the last two years.

LUXURY serviced apartment company Superior Stay has appointed chartered accountant Ross l’Anson to join the Harrogate-based team.
Mr L’Anson has more than a decade of professional accountancy experience.
At Superior Stay he will use his expertise in managing cashflow, auditing accounts and building and selling businesses, in addition to assisting with the future growth of the company.

THE Sheffield office of Halliwells has hired a new senior litigator.
Nicola Loadsman joins the team as a partner in dispute resolution, following a decade with Nabarro, where she was a partner for six years.
Having qualified as a solicitor in 1993, Ms Loadsman has worked in London, Newcastle and Sheffield providing strategic advice to major UK and international corporates.
Her expertise lies in specialist areas of dispute resolution, such as product liability and large scale, multi-billion pound class actions.
