KCOM dials up directory enquiries deal

HULL-BASED IT and telecoms company KCOM Group announced today that it has sold its 118 800 directory enquiries number.
The deal sees the group selling the premium directory enquiries telephone number to Berkshire-based Connectivity for £1.45m but it has entered into a long-term arrangement to provide contact centre services to Connectivity for the 118 800 service.
Malcolm Fallen, chief executive of KCOM Group, said: “This arrangement fits with our ongoing commitment to focus on our core capabilities. The relationship with Connectivity provides us with a real opportunity to exploit the depth and breadth of our skills in outsourced contact centre services. We look forward to
working closely with Connectivity as it delivers new services.”
Last week KCOM said trading is in line with expectations as its telecoms and internet businesses continue to trade well.
The company provides a range of integrated IT and communications services to businesses and internet and telecommunications services to selected consumer markets within the UK, where it employs more than 2,700 people.
The group's portfolio of businesses works with both private enterprise customers and public sector organisations.
The KCOM Group also includes a regionally-focused operation, Kingston Communications, which provides telecoms systems to small and medium-sized businesses.
