TheBusinessDesk.com backs SMEs

AN exciting new section dedicated to the region's small to medium sized enteprises is being launched today by TheBusinessDesk.com.

The section has been specifically created to offer Yorkshire and Humber's smaller businesses a “one stop site” for the latest news and analysis as well as articles and features on hot topics affecting SMEs.

Each Monday visitors will be able to access an in depth interview with a chosen business leader or professional as part of the channel's The Interview series, on Tuesdays get themselves up to date with the latest issues affecting businessess, and on Wednesdays learn more about the thousands of diverse companies across the region in TheBusinessDesk.com's weekly Company Profile.

The site will also feature invaluable links to information on a wide range of topics from changing legislation to grant access.

David Parkin, Editor of TheBusinessDesk.com, said that it made sense to offer a channel exclusively targeted at SMEs.

“According to government figures, of the 4.5m UK businesses, 99.3% are smaller firms with fewer than 50 employees. Although many of the headaches suffered by business leaders are the same no matter what the company size, SMEs are exposed to a different set of problems and obstacles such as compliance, breaking into new markets and remaining competitive.

“But it's because of their size that they are often judged to be the most innovative and creative, and we want to showcase what talent we have here in Yorkshire and Humber.”

The channel will focus on companies with not more than 250 employees and a balance sheet of £25m – based on the Government's Companies Act definition.
