Sheffield United signs Blundell

BLUNDELLS estate agency founder Mike Blundell is to join the board of Sheffield United.
Mr Blundell has also invested in the club, which he has supported from an early age, after discussions with PLC chairman Kevin McCabe and chairman Chris Steer.
He said: “Many people in Sheffield are aware of my passion for the Blades. I have always wanted to be a director and now the time is right for me to take up that opportunity.
“I will be working closely with the commercial team where I hope to identify and help develop new opportunities for the club. I believe I am joining at an exciting time for the club.
“We have seen a promising start to the season and we are building a sustainable business under chief executive Julian Winter with realistic ambitions to return to the Championship and eventually the Premier League.”
Mr Blundell founded Blundells in 1977 and it now boasts 14 offices across Sheffield and North Derbyshire employing 150 people.
Mr McCabe said: “I have known Mike for a long time and I am delighted that he is coming on board. He is a very successful and popular Sheffield businessman and brings with him a wide range of contacts in business.”
