ENGINEERING consultancy Grontmij has made its third acquisition in as many weeks after acquiring building services firm Roger Preston and Partners.

Grontmij, which has its UK and Ireland headquarters in Yorkshire, said that the deal marks the final stage in a series of three strategic acquisitions designed to expand and enhance the services the company can offer.

Headquartered in Maidenhead with an international footprint of offices and projects spanning Europe, North America and Asia, Roger Preston & Partners specialises in offering sustainable building consultancy services.

Bringing Grontmij's existing European employees together with Roger Preston & Partners' 160 specialist consultants takes Grontmij's total headcount to approximately 1,350.

Specifically, Roger Preston & Partners provides general consultancy advice in building energy, systems and environment.

It also has specialist divisions dealing with fire, vertical transportation and network engineering and last year had a turnover of more than £12m.

David Sadler, finance director UK & Ireland, Grontmij said: “We're delighted to bring Roger Preston & Partners on board – they are a leading player in their niche market and we look forward to building future success together. ”

Roger Preston will continue to operate under its existing brand name and project management.

Hammonds corporate partner Nick Watson and corporate lawyer Rebecca Lewis-Davies advised Grontmij on its latest deal.

Grontmij, which is listed on the Euronext Stock Exchange in Amsterdam, has 350 staff at its offices in Chapel Allerton and a further 650 across the UK and Ireland.
