CBE for Ridgway in New Year Honours

PROFESSOR Keith Ridgway added to his OBE in the New Year Honours after being awarded a CBE for services to manufacturing research.

Prof Ridgway is research director of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre in South Yorkshire.

Prof Ridgway’s CBE is his second honour for services to manufacturing research.

The co-founder and research director of Sheffield University’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre received an OBE six years ago.

Earlier this year, the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Institute was awarded £9.2m through the Government’s Regional Growth Fund to establish a new training centre.

It will be based in a new building next to the Advanced Manufacturing and Research Centre and Nuclear AMRC.

Prof Ridgway said at the time that the centre would “encourage more manufacturing companies to employ young people, with the confidence that they are receiving the world class skills training they need to compete in today’s advanced manufacturing sectors”.
