Media Buzz: Digital UK switched on by Brahm; Bonmarché calls on Epiphany Solutions; and more

DIGITAL UK has appointed Leeds-based Brahm to handle the PR and communications surrounding the digital TV switchover for the Yorkshire and Tyne Tees regions.

The not for profit organisation, jointly owned by public-service broadcasters BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five, S4C and broadcast companies SDN and Arqiva, is responsible for converting the UK’s terrestrial television system to digital by 2012.

As part of a two year contract Brahm is tasked with informing and educating the general public and key stakeholders about the  switchover dates and any actions that need to be taken in order to take advantage of the increased number of services.

The brief includes media relations, stakeholder engagement and issues management.

Tim Downs, head of PR at Brahm, said: “This is a fantastic win for Brahm and is an account which offers many communications challenges on quite a sensitive subject. The regions we will be supporting cover a wide geographic area that includes densely populated cities and remote countryside, both with different needs.”
