Boiler firm Sime UK doubles its workforce

STAFF numbers have more than doubled in the past 12 months following record growth at Castleford-based boiler company Sime.

The firm, which is a subsidiary of Italian gas boiler giant Sime SpA, has increased its workforce from seven to 16 during a year which has seen year-on-year sales figures rise by 38%. Turnover has leapt by £1.3m to £5.8m.

Paul Linley, Sime's managing director, said that the company's success was a direct result of heavy investment in the firm and the implementation of an ongoing transformation strategy designed to strengthen Sime's position within the UK's hot water and heating market.

“The past 12 months have been excellent for the company and while the market for domestic boilers remains fiercely competitive, I am confident that our recent success will continue throughout 2008,” he said.

“Sime is known for both its high-quality range of boilers and its personal approach to customer service and a key aspect of our expansion plan is to ensure we uphold both as the business continues to grow.”

Mr Linley added that the company was set to further strengthen its position in the market with the launch of a new range of high-efficiency boilers and collection of floor standing models and advanced flue management systems.

Sime UK, which was established in 2003, supplies and services a comprehensive range of high efficiency domestic boilers, including compact and storage combination types, as well as condensing boilers.

All boilers, flue components and spare parts are held at its head offices in Castleford and a nationwide team of directly employed engineers provides service support throughout the UK.
