Sheffield dealmakers advise on AIM acquisition

SHEFFIELD-BASED dealmakers Strategic Corporate Finance have advised on the successful sale of The Learning Eye to Strontium.
The Learning Eye is a provider of training and consulting services mainly to the automotive sector, while Strontium is an AIM-listed professional services provider.
Kevan Shaw and Greg Barker from Strategic Corporate Finance ran an auction process, which led to the selection of London-based Strontium as the preferred bidder for Gloucestershire firm The Learning Eye, and also provided advice to the shareholders throughout the sale process.
Mr Shaw said “We are delighted to have advised the shareholders on the disposal of this very profitable company. Our research identified Strontium as a potential purchaser and the price obtained for the shareholders recognised The Learning Eye as an excellent strategic fit for them.
Legal advice for the vendor was provided by Richard May of DLA Piper in Sheffield.
The Learning Eye offers services including event based learning programmes, product launches, management training and conferences. Its world renowned clients include Toyota, Lexus and Nissan.
Ian Seggar, managing director of The Learning Eye said “We are delighted to become a part of Strontium and believe that by combining our expertise we can continue to offer innovative and effective business solutions to a wider audience. Whilst we have already established a strong reputation amongst our client base, Strontium allows us the opportunity to take this to another level.”
David Barker, managing director of Strontium, said “The acquisition of The Learning Eye re-affirms our ongoing strategy to grow both organically and through acquisitions that complement our overall operations. We are confident that The Learning Eye is a good fit with the existing Strontium business which will lead to business synergies throughout the group.”
