Latest appointments: Barclays Corporate boosts debt finance team; Controlled Speed hire business development director; and more

BARCLAYS Corporate has made a trio of senior appointments to its Yorkshire debt finance team.
Geoff Durkin, who was recently promoted to head up the team, has announced the appointments of Jamie Farrell, Dan Hurst and Kris Keen.
Mr Farrell joins the team from Santander Corporate Banking where he worked as a
relationship director.
Prior to Santander, he spent ten years at Fortis where he was a key member of the bank’s acquisition and leveraged finance team, delivering high profile deals, particularly in the financial sponsor arena.
Mr Hurst joined the bank’s graduate scheme in 2007 and joins from his previous role as associate director in the corporate relationship team.
Mr Keen joined Barclays in 2008 and has previously been responsible for business development, particularly in the healthcare sector and most recently a credit role supporting Plc clients.

ELECTRONIC motor control products manufacturer Controlled Speed has appointed a business development director to accelerate its ambitious growth plans.
Phil Astley, joins Controlled Speed from Elstat Electronics, a company that designs and manufactures electronic energy saving devices for one of the world’s leading carbonated soft drink manufacturers.
Prior to this, he spent seven years at the global electronics distribution giant Premier Farnell.
During this time he held several senior roles within the business, including global accounts European operations manager and head of supply chain optimisation – Europe and Asia Pacific and export sales & marketing manager.
Controlled Speed, which supplies some of the world’s leading manufacturers of mobility products, is already achieving 20% growth year on year, recently relocated to extensive new premises in Batley to accommodate the massive growth opportunities in its core market, stair lift controls, and in the bespoke electronic assemblies market.
The company is also developing a new product for the lucrative LED lighting market.
Mr Astley is tasked with growing existing accounts and identifying new product opportunities and market segments.

DIGITAL design agency Mixd has signalled its continued expansion with the appointment of Dave Graham as senior ‘Ruby on Rails’ developer.
In this role he will head the Mixd website development team and lead the online application development.
Mr Graham has been working with Harrogate-based Mixd on a freelance and short term contract basis for several years.
He has extensive specialist development expertise, particularly the fast emerging ‘Ruby on Rails’ programming language, as well as the creation of Apple iPhone apps.
Mixd’s digital director Phil Shackleton said: “This is a significant move for us as it takes the Mixd offering even further and will keep us at the forefront of the digital world. We are working in probably the world’s fastest moving industry.
“That means we have a duty to our clients and ourselves to recruit talent that ensures we’re both fully aware of current technology and able to embrace future trends as they happen.”
