Synergy opens new site at Sheffield Parkway

SYNERGY Health has signed a 16-year lease that will see it create a new decontamination supercentre at the Sheffield Parkway Business Park.

The 28,500 sq ft site will be used to to provide surgical instrument decontamination and sterilisation services to the NHS in the region after winning a 15-year contract.

The new facility will be home to around 100 staff, most of whom will transfer from the NHS, and will start work in May after a substaintial fit-out.

Stephen Weedon, commercial manager for Synergy, said:  “This new Sheffield facility, and our contract, is bourne out of a national programme run by the Department of Health which has sought to improve the level of patient safety through the creation of large ‘supercentre’ decontamination sites designed, built and serviced by private sector companies such as Synergy Health.

“We selected Sheffield Parkway Business Park as the location for the new Sheffield facility due to its proximity to the Hospitals, the suitability of the unit in

terms of size and ability to accommodate our specific fit-out requirements, and also the good accessibility of the site. We are looking forward to progressing

with the internal works and to supporting the NHS Sheffield Trusts decontamination requirements.”

The Sheffield Parkway Business Park is a former wholesale markets site redeveloped by JF Finnegan in partnership with Sheffield City Council and lies next to junction 33 of the M1.

Philip Ryan, chairman of JF Finnegan, said: “The redevelopment of the former markets site was an extensive eight year regeneration project during which the vision remained unchanged, to accommodate a range of occupiers to ensure the long-term success of the scheme.

“In welcoming another internationally recognised tenant in Synergy we continue to realise our initial vision.”
