US firm buys Squirrel Storage

A US firm has bought Leeds-based document management business Squirrel Storage.

Squirrel Storage will continue to trade under the same name after being bought by Cintas Corporation which already has operations in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Operating in ten locations across the UK, Squirrel was the largest independent document storage firm in the country and provides services including retrievals, scanning and confidential destruction.

Simon Ruston, sales director at Squirrel Storage, said: “Since we first began discussions with Cintas, I have been very impressed with the company’s honest, hardworking values.

“Squirrel Storage had come to a point where we are prepared for new growth opportunities.  Cintas provided just the opportunity we were looking for to expand our penetration throughout the U.K.”

The Leeds offices of accountants PKF and solicitors Schofield Sweeney advised Squirrel Storage on the deal which will see the company become Cintas Document Management UK.

Joe Fribourg, director of corporate development in Europe at Cintas, said: “Cintas found Squirrel Storage to be a very solid investment as it positioned us well to expand our European footprint.

“Very importantly we found the leadership and staff members to be very skilled and hardworking professionals with a corporate culture aligned very much with our own.”
