Minorplanet makes key appointment

VEHICLE management information group Minorplanet has made a key appointment.

Christian Payne has been appointed as the group’s new head of marketing.

Mr Payne joins Minorplanet after 10 years with GE Equipment Services, where he played a pivotal role in re-branding its trailer leasing and services company and expanding the operation from conventional trailer leasing and rentals to a services led business.

The Leeds-based group provides products which can track drivers and monitor how long they are behind the wheel.

Terry Donovan, chief executive of Minorplanet, said: “I am very pleased to  announce another key appointment in our Sales & Marketing team.  Christian is an experienced and enthusiastic operator, who is relishing his new remit – to expand Minorplanet’s proposition and attract new customers with a wider variety of products and value adding services.  I welcome him wholeheartedly and look forward to working with him on our marketing programme.”

For the year ended August 31, Minorplanet’s pre-tax profit rose 60% from £1m to £1.6m, on turnover of £24.4m, up from £23.8m.

The improved performance, following a period of heavy financial losses at the fleet management firm, included substantial investment in new products and personnel, other board changes, and the acquisition of 49.9% of its subsidiary Minorplanet Asia Pacific Pty, for £1.7m last May.
