"Strong" trading quarter for Fenner

INDUSTRIAL belting company Fenner enjoyed a strong second quarter, the company said today.

The Hessle-based firm described its operating profit as “significantly ahead” of the same period last year.

Fenner’s performance has been boosted by growing demand for its products from the mining and energy sectors and the company said it was making additional investment in this area.

The company has made a series of acquisitions in North America, Singapore and Australia and this morning it said those were making “good progress”.

Efficiency savings made last year had improved margins in both its Engineering Conveyor Solutions and Advanced Engineering Products divisions, it said.

A stockmarket update said: “As the group enters the second half of its financial year, healthy order book levels support our expectation of continued positive trading.”
