Football match looks to score for charities

A CHARITY football match led by Yorkshire’s property community is set to break a landmark fundraising milestone.
The eighth annual match will take place on a specially constructed pitch at MEPC’s Wellington Place scheme in Leeds city centre on September 20.
More than £75,000 has been raised for charity from the game over the last three years and organisers expect to raise more than £25,000 this year, taking the total to £100,000 since 2009.
Tables are now available to attend a 480-strong dinner at The Queen’s Hotel in Leeds following the match.
The match will see a team of property agents take on a squad made up of business professionals and money raised will be donated to children’s charity Barnardo’s and Yorkshire Cancer Centre, in memory of John Hubbard.
Previous years have seen former professional footballers including Dean Windass, Noel Whelan, Simon Grayson and Craig Hignett take part and a strong line-up of stars is expected again this year.
There are opportunities to sponsor team shirts, wine, match ball, man of the match and the after dinner speaker for 2012.
Headline sponsorship of the event is also available, as are co-sponsorship and souvenir programme opportunities.
Carl Wright of Jack Lunn, who is a member of the event’s organising committee, said: “The annual Yorkshire Property Charity Football match has become a firm and important fixture in Yorkshire’s corporate calendar.
“Despite the current tough economic times, there is so much goodwill across Yorkshire businesses and as ever we will be enormously grateful for any support given.”
Media partner for this year’s match is TheBusinessDesk.com.
