First phase starts at Redrow site

WORK has started on the first phase of a housing scheme in Wakefield that is set to provide 116 new properties.

Redrow Homes has begun development on the Scholars Gate development, that will offer a range of three and four bedroom homes. 

Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), advised by Leeds-based law firm Clarion, exchanged contracts in 2010 and has now obtained planning permission for the first phase of development.

Simon Prest, senior land manager of Redrow Homes, said:  “This is the first time we have worked with Clarion and the property team has provided a good service throughout this fairly lengthy and complex process.”

Martin Grange, partner at Clarion, added: “This has been a complicated transaction from negotiating with the landowners through to obtaining planning permission, it’s great to see work starting on the first new homes.”
