Top comic lines up for charity match

TV funnyman Milton Jones will score on and off the pitch after being signed up to perform at the 2012 Yorkshire Property Charity Football Match.

The Perrier and Sony award-winning comedian, who regularly appears on hit shows Mock the Week and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, will be the headline act at the annual fundraiser.

And as well as taking to the stage to deliver his renowned wordplay and surreal observations at a fundraising dinner, Jones has also agreed to take part in the game which takes place earlier that day.

The comedian will make an appearance in a match that will see property professionals, sponsored by Norland, line up against a team of agents, supported by Towngate, on a pitch at MEPC’s Wellington Place scheme in Leeds on September 20.

Money raised from the event will be donated to children’s charity Barnardo’s and Yorkshire Cancer Centre, in memory of John Hubbard.

The afternoon game, the eighth to be held, is followed by a dinner at The Queen’s Hotel in Leeds.

Jonathan Phillips, of Beach Baker, and a member of the event’s organising committee, said: “Getting someone of Milton’s pedigree to appear at the event demonstrates the respected reputation we have built up over the years.

“We’re sure Milton will have the audience in stitches and we’re delighted that he’s also agreed to take part in the football match and show off his skills, as well as helping to raise money for charity.”

Tables for the dinner, which will be attended by more than 400 people, have already been taken by firms including Claremont, Jones Lang LaSalle, Lambert Smith Hampton, Blacks Solicitors, Jack Lunn, Langleys, Pinsent Masons, GVA, Auction House Leeds, Adept Engineers and MEPC.

Other sponsorship opportunities are available and interested parties should email Mr Phillips at jonny@beachbaker.co.uk or visit www.facebook.com/yorkshirepropertycharityfootball.
