Plastics expert invests for future

A PLASTICS manufacturer is investing more than £125,000 in machinery in a move its chairman believes could lead to job creation.

Tatra Plastics Manufacturing, based in Norwood Green, West Yorkshire, manufactures a range of PVC and plastic extrusions, plastic tubing and self-assembly plastic panelling products.

The company has installed a £100,000 moulding machine to replace one that’s been running for 25 years.

The machine, that will use around 50% less energy than the one presently being used, is set to be joined by a £25,000 robot arm to offload, stack, palletise and box up mouldings.

Chairman Paul Freud said the investment reflected the company’s growing confidence in the manufacturing sector in the region.

Mr Freud said: “These machines will help us respond even more quickly to a client’s orders and specifications.

“These machines will not only help us respond even more quickly to a client’s orders and specifications, we should also be able to increase our output.”

Established in 1963, Tatra has evolved to produce a range of products for the telecoms and rail industry. The company employs more than 30 staff.
