Weather hits MFEST event

A MUSIC festival set to take place this weekend, and sponsored by supermarket group Morrisons, has been cancelled because of the wet weather.

MFEST, which has been branded as ‘a feast of British food and music’, was scheduled to take place at Harewood House near Leeds tomorrow and on Sunday.

Acts lined up to perform included Texas, The Human League, Scouting for Girls, Cher Lloyd and Steps.

A statement on the MFEST website said: “It is with our deepest regret that due to the adverse weather conditions leading up to this event in conjunction with the extreme weather warning as issued by the Met Office for the weekend, we were left with no other decision than to abandon this weekend’s MFEST.

“This was a joint decision made between the promoter, the production team, health and safety and Harewood House. Advice was also taken from Leeds City Council.

“The public’s health and safety is of paramount concern, therefore it would be irresponsible to continue however disappointed we all are.”

Information on ticket refunds will be available on Monday.
