A round-up of the top appointments from the Yorkshire legal sector. 

LAWYER Samantha Haslam has been appointed by Harrogate based Beck Solicitors to play a key role in the firm’s future growth plans. 

Ms Haslam, will join the family law department, providing expert knowledge in matters of separation and divorce, as well as division of matrimonial assets and child/custody disputes.

She worked for Gordons Solicitors in Leeds for several years and joins Beck Solicitors from the Garforth office of Godloves Solicitors.

Based on West Park in the centre of the town, the firm specialises primarily in family law, in addition to wills/probate and residential conveyancing.

NORTH East divorce lawyer Margaret Simpson has been appointed head of family law at Dickinson Dees’ offices in the Tees Valley and Yorkshire region.

Simpson, who has been working for Dickinson Dees for six years, is a partner in the firm with 23 years’ legal experience behind her.

She specialises in ancillary relief and financial issues regarding divorce settlements – particularly in high-value cases.

The Wealth Management department at Dickinson Dees brings together a wealth of expertise covering all aspects of personal, trust, charity and corporate financial work.

COMMERCIAL law firm Beachcroft LLP has appointed Ian Cooper to its specialist healthcare and clinical risk team in Leeds. Ian joins the firm as an associate from Eversheds’ Newcastle office.

In his new role, he will be responsible for providing specialist healthcare advice to the NHS and private sector clients on issues such as patient confidentiality, governance, human rights, mental health law and funding disputes.

His arrival follows the announcement last month that Beachcroft has invited several individuals from Eversheds’ northern health and defendant injury risk practice to join the firm by the end of the year.

Simon BestYORKSHIRE commercial law firm Rollits, has announced the appointment of a new solicitor to join the firm’s Property team. 

Simon Best will join the property department in York, to specialise in Social Housing and some general commercial property matters.
 
Mr Best, a graduate of Nottingham University and York College of Law, said: ”I am very excited about joining the team at Rollits.  It is a great opportunity to work with some extremely experienced individuals and strengthen the expertise of a very well respected department. “
