A round-up of the weeks top appointments within the PR and marketing industry. 

SHEFFIELD FC have appointed a new commercial manager to capitalise on the global awareness the club achieved during their 150th anniversary celebrations.

Guy Higton, from Derby, will be responsible for increasing the club’s merchandise sales, membership applications and sponsorship opportunities.

He is also tasked with securing funding for Sheffield FC’s extensive community programme and their Boots for Africa campaign.

Mr Higton joins Sheffield FC after being business development manager at Derbyshire Building Society where he was responsible for the company’s sponsorship of Derby County Football Club.

Sheffield FC has more than 1,000 members, including Brazilian legend Pele, FIFA president Sepp Blatter and England cricket captain Michael Vaughan.

HUDDERSFIELD-BASED marketing communications specialist Message4it has just recruited two new IT specialists to help develop its growing range of innovative marketing communications products.

Karl Morton, a graduate of Bradford University with experience in the development of financial modeling and gaming software, is working with technical director Shaun Nixon on a range of e-mail and SMS text innovations aimed at helping local authorities and other large service providers to improve customer communications and information provision.

To assist in hardware development, including the high-tech Message4it ‘Touchtower’ information system, the company has recruited Sammy Williams.

LEEDS brand design and marketing company The Think!ng Agency has appointed a new managing director and formed a new board of directors.

Business partners, Robert Allwood and James Eate, have now stepped back from the day-to-day running of the agency, handing over the reins to Lee Grasby.

Mr Grasby comes to The Think!ng Agency with 10 years experience at regional agencies, including Charles Walls and Outside the Box, as well as four years spent in the role of marketing manager for National Australia Bank.

He has worked across a range of high-profile accounts including Matalan, Littlewoods, Business Express, Boots, Yorkshire Bank, Clydesdale Bank and Northern Bank, delivering award winning campaigns for Business Express and Sandicliffe Motor Group.

Since January the agency has celebrated a number of new business wins, including Bayford Oil, Thyssenkrupp, Henshaws College for the Blind, Grandecco and Magna Science Adventure Centre.
