Accolades for Yorkshire-based brokers

THE Yorkshire-based institutional equities team of stockbroker and fund manager WH Ireland has been ranked joint 10th overall in this year’s UK & Ireland Starmine broker awards, outclassing many of its larger rivals.
Separately, in the individual analyst rankings, Keith Ashworth-Lord was ranked seventh in the list of top 10 overall stock pickers and second in the Equipment &
Machinery sector, while John Cummins, who was recently ranked a top three earnings estimator in Europe in the Business & Consumer Services sector,
repeated his success in the UK and Ireland awards.
The pair are part of the 12-strong WH Ireland institutional broking team based in Leeds. Mr Ashworth-Lord’s primary remit is to identify value plays in the FTSE-Mid250 and Small Cap indices while Mr Cummins researches the Business Services sector in addition to a number of companies in the Consumer sector.
The team is responsible for the independent coverage of companies across a wide range of sectors on the London Stock Exchanges’ main market and AIM, as well as servicing a growing number of corporate clients.
Commenting on the awards, Matthew Davis, head of institutional equities at WH Ireland, said: “I am delighted that the team, and in particular Keith and John, have received recognition for the quality and accuracy of their research. The blue chip nature of the other firms shortlisted shows that being a smaller broker outside
London is no barrier to achieving acclamation alongside some of the best names in the industry. The awards are testament to the whole institutional team at WH Ireland who have established a strong presence in the FTSE-Mid250 and below.”
