Sheffield entrepreneur signs GO Outdoors deal

RETAILER GO Outdoors is working with a Sheffield Hallam University graduate to develop new eco-friendly outdoor cooking products.

Lewis Bowen has signed a deal with Sheffield-based GO Outdoors to create the Fuel4 X range which uses an environmentally friendly gel-based fuel.

His company, Geco Industries, aims to make alternative energy products more affordable and accessible.

Geco has taken space at Hillfoot Industrial Estate in Sheffield after receiving support from the council’s economic development arm Creative Sheffield.

Coun Leigh Bramall, Sheffield City Council’s cabinet member for business, skills and development said: “Lewis saw a gap in the market took a risk and produced a lucrative company.

“His remarkable achievements show how important it is that we work to support our young people and to create conditions for them to thrive.”

Fuel4 was originally developed for use in Africa where smoke from indoor cooking poses a threat to health but is now being applied to the camping and festival markets.
