Green light for Calder Park expansion

PLANNING permission has been granted for a number of new amenities at Peel’s Calder Park business park in Wakefield.

The green light by Wakefield Council will see a new facility being built by forecourt operator Euro Garages.

The new amenities include a petrol filling station with convenience store and a drive-through Starbucks, set to create around 40 jobs.

Work on-site is expected to start shortly with the aim of opening the petrol filling station and Starbucks next summer.

The expansion follows the recent opening of two car showrooms, Harratt’s Honda and Mitsubishi and Sytner’s Audi, at Calder Park.

Matt Fitton, development manager at Peel, said: “Welcoming Euro Garages to Calder Park is just the latest in a string of high profile deals which has seen a range of occupiers taking space.

“Development activity at the Park over the past 12 months has been unprecedented in the current climate which is testament to the quality of environment we have created and the unrivalled location the scheme affords being directly adjacent to the Junction 39 of the M1 which has around 100,000 vehicles passing daily.”

The business park also boasts more than 100 acres of dedicated nature reserve.

Joint agents on the development are WSB Property Consultants and Savills. Euro Garages was advised by Hindley Lawrence.
