Yorkshire-based Lexia Solutions Group has announced the appointment of Mike Smith as its new director of health and safety.

The newly-created board position follows significant growth for Lexia over the past year, which has diversified into other business areas to offer complete asbestos and environmental compliance services for property. 

The appointment of a director of health and safety at board level demonstrates the commitment by Lexia to support clients with compliance and H&S issues at strategic as well as operational levels. 
 
Mr Smith’s new role will cover the responsibility for health and safety for each of Lexia’s companies, comprising of Rhodar, Bagnall UK, Novas UK, Thermac and Life Environmental Services.
 
Established in 2004, the Lexia Solutions Group includes Rhodar, the leading asbestos abatement company; Thermac, a specialist equipment manufacturer; Novas, a property reinstatement company; Bagnall UK, a demolition and land remediation specialist; and Life Environmental Services, an environment compliance and risk management solution specialist. The group has seen a 100 per cent growth in the last three years and plans to increase growth further, both organically and through acquisition.

Richard FiskRichard Fisk is to join Jones Lang LaSalle as director in its National Investment team, based in Leeds. 

Jeff Pearey, head of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Leeds office, said:  “Richard is a much respected agent in Yorkshire and the North East and, his extensive experience, will significantly strengthen the firm’s investment presence across the region and makes us better placed to meet clients’ needs.  He will work closely with myself and Andrew Hynard, National Head of Investment, to drive our investment business in the region forward.”

Mr Fisk joins from CB Richard Ellis in Leeds, where he spent nine years as a Director of Investment working with clients including F&C Asset Management, Landmark Developments Projects and CBRE Investors. 

He has been involved in a number of the region’s larger transactions most notably, the £64.5 m acquisition of No 1 Whitehall Riverside, a landmark office in Leeds, acquired for New Star from Town Centre Securities; who were advised by Jones Lang LaSalle. 

He also advised on the sale of One Park Lane in Leeds, on behalf of GE Real Estate for £22.3m. 

Mr Fisk will join Jones Lang LaSalle in early September 2008.

PROPERTY advisor GVA Grimley is expanding its Planning, Development and Regeneration (PDR) division in Leeds again with five new appointments and two promotions.

Associate, Neil Jones has relocated to Leeds from GVA Grimley’s London office, Amanda Douglass has been appointed as a principal surveyor leading on CPO and development projects and James Cox and Rich Rothwell join as graduate planners. 

In addition, Sally Goymer joins as a secretary and Nicola Jones has been promoted from senior secretary to planning graduate.

She will study a planning degree part time at Leeds Met as well as assisting on the increasing workload of the planning team.

Russell Mills has been promoted to senior surveyor.

Schemes that GVA Grimley’s PDR team are currently working on include a number of large-scale town centre projects as part of the Yorkshire Forward Renaissance programme in Doncaster, Rotherham and Huddersfield, new educational developments in Wakefield, Rotherham and Bradford and the East Hull Gateway housing project, which involves the production of an Area Action Plan.
