Ernst & Young’s Kirkman confirms retirement

ERNST & Young tax partner Alan Kirkman – a widely respected figure in the Hull business community – is to retire.

Mr Kirkman, senior partner in the firm’s Hull office, is stepping down after 23 years with firm.

His decision comes as Ernst & Young prepares to move its Hull office from its longstanding home in Lowgate to the marina.

Yorkshire senior partner David Buckley said: “Over his time with the firm, Alan has seen a huge amount of change to the city, the region and the profession.

“He has made a significant contribution to our firm, clients and our people in the last 23 years. We wish him the very best for his retirement.

“Our move to newly refurbished offices in Hull – Marina Court – marks our commitment to the market and investment in the regional economy. It is part of our wider plans to expand our offering in Yorkshire over the next five years.”

Mr Kirkman retires after a 35 year career as a corporate tax adviser. Before joining Ernst & Young in 1989 he worked for HMRC in London and for The Burmah Oil Company.
